Reports to: Business Development Manager

Position Type: Full Time

About the Position: This position will work as part of the Sales Team to coordinate, prepare, manage and follow-up on all quotations and proposals as well as support the Sales team in a variety of other areas.


Specific Responsibilities:

  •  Prepare quotations and proposals for ALS clients and follow up on these quotations and proposals to track successes and failures;
  • Coordinate and assist in the preparation of larger more comprehensive proposals as required;
  • Assist in the preparation of sales information, price lists, and any other marketing materials required to improve the effectiveness of the sales or client services team;
  • Assist with organizing client events, seminars, workshops and presentations;
  • Participate in client appreciation events and industry seminars/conferences;
  • Track public Requests for Proposals (RFP);
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant environmental criteria and guidelines;
  • Maintain knowledge of laboratory capabilities and service offerings;
  • Answer incoming technical queries or forward to an appropriate ALS manager if necessary;
  • Ensure that all client calls are returned as soon as possible after receipt;
  • Ensure adherence to all procedures and policies (safety, quality, employment and technical);
  • Support other members of the Sales or Management team;
  • Assist the Sales team with client requests, contacts and visits as time permits;
  • Act as the primary contact for all new client calls and e-mails coming in to ALS, including:
    • Providing any required sampling and handling information/instructions to these clients;
    • Communicating any special client requests to Account Managers and staff;
    • Familiarity with appropriate environmental regulations (most importantly the Canadian Drinking Water Guidelines);

  • Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
  • Other duties as assigned.



Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand for up to a full shift;

  • Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities;
  • Ability to perform intricate and/or repetative tasks.


About You:


The ideal candidate would have:

  • At least one year of experience in Customer Service or Sales;
  • At least one year of experience in Environmental Chemistry or related field preferred.

You would also be/have:

  • Strong customer service background;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Positive and energetic outlook;
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills;
  • Demonstrated time management skills;
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently;
  • Organized and detailed oriented;
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint).
