Reports to: Instrumentation Manager
Position Type: Contract (6 Months)
About the Position: Working as part of Instrumentation Maintenance team, the Electronics Technician is responsible for repairs, maintenance and calibration of all laboratory equipment, and assisting with proprietary device manufacturing. The technician will use correct methods, procedures and adhere to safe laboratory practices and work in accordance with ALS Health and Safety program.
Perform technical support using diagnostic and service manuals under supervision;
Assist with and complete repairs on analytical laboratory equipment;
Assist with and complete routine preventive maintenance;
Calibration, adjustments, specific measurements and data logging as requested or required by service manuals;
Electronic/electrical and mechanical fabrication on custom equipment and tools;
Perform checks, repairs or manipulation with supporting systems like cooling, gas supply, pneumatic and hydraulic systems when required;
Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;
Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
Other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate would have:
An aptitude for mechanical and electrical systems;
Ability to read technical manuals and schematics;
Ability to follow through and complete assigned duties according to deadlines;
Excellent command of the English language, strong verbal and written communication skills;
Strong customer service orientation and interpersonal skills;
Experience in designing, installing, testing, and troubleshooting electrical systems;
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills;
Strong time management and organizational skills;
Self-starter, must be proactive and possess ability to work independently;
Excellent computer skills including MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook;
Ability to effectively handle escalations and time critical issues;
