    Location: ALS Environmental, Calgary or Edmonton

    Reports to: Business Development Manager

    Position Type: Full-Time

    About the Position: The successful candidate will work as part of the Sales Team to track public Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and to coordinate, prepare and follow-up on all quotations and proposals. They will also support the Sales and Client Service teams in a variety of other areas.


    Specific Responsibilities:

    • Track public Requests for Proposals (RFP);
    • Prepare quotations and proposals for ALS clients, and follow-up on these quotations and proposals to track successes and failures;
    • Coordinate and assist in the preparation of larger competitive and professional proposals;
    • Assist in the preparation of sales information, price lists, and any other marketing materials required to improve the effectiveness of the Sales or Client Services team;
    • Answer incoming technical queries or forward to an appropriate department manager if necessary;
    • Input, track and prepare client information, summaries of quote and sales opportunities and pipeline information in the Customer Relations Management (CRM) platform;
    • Coordinate the updating of client accounts relating to pricing or project requirements;
    • Maintain knowledge of laboratory capabilities, service offerings, and relevant environmental criteria and guidelines;
    • Ensure that all client calls are returned as soon as possible after receipt;
    • Support other members of the Sales, Client Services or Management team;
    • Assist the Sales team with client requests, contacts and visits as time permits;
    • Assist with organizing client events, seminars, workshops and presentations;
    • Participate in client appreciation events;
    • Ensure adherence to all procedures and policies (safety, quality, employment and technical);
    • Other duties as assigned.


    Physical Demands:

    • Manual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks;
    • Ability to stand or sit for a full shift.
    • Flexibility to work overtime to meet proposal deadlines as required.

    About You:


    The ideal candidate would have:

    • B.Sc. or Technical Diploma in a science based discipline;

    • College Certificate/Diploma or University degree in Business, English, Communications, Marketing or a related discipline AND experience with scientific or technical terminology will be considered;
    • At least one year of experience in Customer Service or Sales preferred;
    • At least one year of experience in Environmental Chemistry or related field preferred;
    • At least one year of experience with technical writing or proposal writing preferred.

    You would also have:

    • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, including proofreading and editing;
    • Strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel & Powerpoint);
    • Organized and detail oriented;
    • Strong customer service background;
    • Excellent interpersonal skills;
    • Positive and energetic outlook;
    • Demonstrated time management skills;
    • Able to work in a team environment;
    • Self-motivated and capable of working independently;
    • Knowledge of Contact Management Software (e.g. Salesforce) preferred.
